Concept & Origin of Potential Network

  • In connection with his procurement negotiation consulting, multinational procurement teams confided to Peter Nixon that their most difficult category of procurement was consultants. Typical problems faced include:
    • Companies don't know which consultants are available or how to contact them
    • Companies have no way of really comparing the expertise and delivery capacity of competing consultants
    • Consultancies have a tendency to oversell, sometimes saying yes to mandates for which they have yet to secure experts that can do the job
    • Consultants change firms fairly regularly meaning the expertise moves with them thereby changing the expertise profile of larger firms quickly
    • Boutique and independent consultancies represent a rapidly growing sector of the market but being small they tend to have short life cycles and re hard to find
  • Peter Nixon has worked to refine the concept of Potential Network since the early 1990's. Peter's breakthrough came when he shifted the focus of the business away from helping sellers of consulting services find clients to instead helping the buyers of consulting services source and rate consultants. Interestingly, by helping the buyers Potential Network is also helping the sellers.
  • Potential Network aims to create the global marketplace for consulting services and in so doing help make consulting a sustainable career for subject experts in major markets around the world.

Start-Up Team & Hub Licensees

  • Working with a small start-up team of like minded individuals Peter Nixon invested time and money to develop the prototype for the first network hub in Hong Kong together with the first version of the consultant rating system and database.
